New UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) revealed
Brexit has brought an end to the UK's involvement in the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) scheme; that is, once your current card expires.
Instead, the UK government has created a new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), which guarantees access to free or reduced-rate medical treatment in 27 EU member states.
Unlike the EHIC, however, it does not include Iceland, Leichtenstein or Switzerland. A separate deal has been reached with Norway.
You can find out more about travelling after Brexit in our complete guide plus get more details regarding the GHIC when you apply for your free card today.
